nutella cups

Glorious Nutella! Is there anything else quite like it? No, sir. If you aren’t already eating it by the spoonful, then this recipe is the best vehicle for unbridled Nutella consumption.

I stupidly, or perhaps brilliantly, purchased a 10 pound tub of Nutella for a wedding W+B catered, but my estimation was embarrassingly off. We barely made a dent in the tub. Obviously, this wasn’t too difficult of a dilemma. Over time I found plenty of ways to add it to most meals (oh, heeeey Nutella bacon cream cheese sandwich! Nutella greek yogurt! Nutella milkshake! Nutella everything!).

So when I came across this delicious recipe for Nutella cups, it seemed another no-brainer way to serve up the chocolate hazelnut goodness with a simple cookie addition. The combination of the two textures is outstanding: creamy Nutella, soft cookie with a slightly crisp outside.

Betcha can’t eat just… ten.

{The recipe has been adapted and readapted by several different blogs. I found it HERE by Daisy Chubb. Essentially, you are baking a basic chocolate chip cookies sans chips.}

This recipe makes between 3-4 dozen… which translates to: enough for two people. Find someone you really, REALLY, REEEEALLY love to partake in these sweet treats.

1c butter, softened

1 c sugar

1 c brown sugar

2 eggs

2 tsp vanilla

3 c flour

1 tsp baking soda

½ tsp salt

Preheat oven to 350. Cream together 1c softened butter, 1c white sugar and 1c brown sugar until smooth. Beat in 2 eggs and 2 tsp of vanilla. In a separate bowl, mix together the dry ingredients: 3c flour, 1 tsp baking soda, and ½ tsp salt. In small batches, add the dry ingredient mixture to the eggs and sugars. Mix until fully incorporated.

In a greased mini muffin tin, drop a small dollop of the cookie dough into each cup. Bake for 15 minutes. As soon as the cookies come out of the oven, use a wooden compressor (or a shot glass or spoon) to push down the center of the cookie to create a “cup”.

Pipe or spoon in your Nutella while the cookies are still warm. The warmth helps the Nutella melt and settled into the cookie cup. (Gaaaah, yes!)
